Wife and husband team Rae and Sam Stanton joined Torbay Climate Action in 2019 and had a desire to start up a series of repair cafes in the Bay. Supported by the team, the first repair café was run at the Eyeview Shop in Winner Street October and people from the community were invited to bring in their items for repair. This was followed by a second Repair Café in November at Paignton library.

What Next?

The next repair café is set for Saturday 15th February 2020 in Paignton Library. This date was set as repair cafes across the UK are uniting for Britain’s Biggest Repair Café - a nationwide day of repair events.

We want to grow the number of repair cafes in the Bay so that more items are prevented from going to landfill and can have a new lease of life.

How you can help

Share your skills - We are looking for people who have a skill for repairing items and would like to help members of the community so please get in touch at

Come down on the day - Bring your broken household items to be fixed – everything from electricals, lamps, vacuum cleaners, laptops, toys or sewing repairs.

We are concerned citizens who were spurred into action when Torbay Council officially declared a Climate Emergency and so we set up this group to invite everyone across the Bay to join us in making change happen at every level, in households, in communities, in businesses and in public services. We are ordinary people from all walks of life who want to work with Bay residents to make a sustainable, inclusive and healthy Torbay a reality for everyone.  Will you join us?
